Can I use my existing Skype account?
Yes. If you currently use the desktop version of Skype on your PC or Mac, you can sign in with your existing details and see all your familiar friendly names in your contact list right away.

How do I create a Skype account?
When you open the Skype application on the handset, you'll be presented with the option to either create a new account or to use an existing account. If you choose to create a new account, you can do it there and then on the handset. Skype Names can be anything from 6-32 characters and passwords must be 4 characters or greater. When you sign in for the first time, you should also decide whether to sign in manually. This means that you'll need to enter your password every time you sign in to the application, or when Skype starts, which means that you're automatically signed in every time you go in to the application.

How can I call contacts in my address book?
Once you've signed into Skype, if you're a regular user of Skype on your desktop computer, you'll be able to see all your usual contacts. Your Skype contacts are stored within the Skype application itself.
If you're a new user, you can add contacts simply via the left hand Options soft key. You can also perform a number of other functions, via the left hand soft key, including manual refresh of contacts. The contacts will be automatically refreshed on a regular basis, as long as the application is in the foreground of your handset. If you minimise the Skype application to the background, it will refresh when it returns to the foreground.

How do I make calls via Skype?
To make a call you'll need to highlight the contact and call them via the normal dial key (usually the green one). You'll know that you're making or receiving calls via Skype, because you'll see Skype Service in the display field in the middle of the screen.

Can I only call people who are also using Skype on 3?
No. You can call anyone who is using Skype, for example, on a PC or a Mac, as well as those on Skype on 3.

Can I use Skype on 3 and Skype on my desktop at the same time?
Yes. You can be signed in on your desktop and with Skype on 3, using the same Skype Name.

Skype on 3 currently does not support retrieval of Skype Voicemails; however they will be accessible if you sign in on a desktop computer.
However, Skype calls that you receive on your 3 mobile will divert to your 3 voicemail service if you are busy or unavailable.

I have Skype Credit, can I make SkypeOut calls?
Skype on 3 currently does not support this but it is expected to be introduced in 2007.

Why do my contacts get an automatic reply when they try to send me a Skype chat?
Your contacts will not be able to tell whether you are signed in on a mobile or on desktop. Since Skype on 3 does not support chat currently, this automatic response is delivered to people who send you a chat so they will know that you cannot respond.

Why does one of my contacts show as offline when I know they are online?
Try the "Refresh Now" option from the Options menu. This should update the presence status of all your contacts. Occasionally due to the nature of Skype's peer-to-peer protocol, inconsistencies in presence may sometimes occur which usually resolve themselves over time. This is the same whether you are using Skype on 3 or Skype on a PC or Mac.

Why did my call not go through and start ringing? My contact was showing as online.
It could be that your contact is busy on another call. Try again later.

Why can't I see who is calling me over Skype? It just says "Skype Service".
